Summary of Responsibilities:

The Director of Admissions is responsible for the development, administration, and supervision of agency admissions and utilization review. S/he develops and maintains positive professional relationships with referral sources, family members, and representatives from other community resources. S/he ensures that the admissions department personnel remain knowledgeable in the organization’s continuum of care and is actively involved in customer service and marketing efforts. S/he oversees inquiries regarding admission to the facility and the student admission process including but not limited to tours for family members, preadmission interviews, screenings, assessments, staffing to determine most appropriate level of care, referrals to other resources if necessary and timely facilitation of necessary forms. S/he oversees the acquisition of third party prior authorization and continued stay authorizations as appropriate for residential services. S/he supervises the Intake Clinical Therapists and Utilization Review Coordinator and works closely with other facility staff to ensure an efficient admission process and transition into services. S/he irresponsible for admission of students to the facility according to established policies and procedures, regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Director of Admissions ensures that student/consumer rights and responsibilities are disseminated to all students and their families. S/he irresponsible for ensuring that all allegations of student rights violations are investigated in a timely manner.

The Director of Admissions is a member of the management team and also serves inappropriate interdepartmental committees within the organization. S/he irresponsible for adherence to annual budget projections, achieving facility census goals and monitoring overall departmental performance.

Supervision and Coordination of Services:

The Director of Admissions is supervised by the Chief Clinical Officer.  The Director of Admissions supervises the Intake Clinical Therapists and Utilization Review Coordinator. 


Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  The Director of Admissions has demonstrated ability to work positively with youth and families. S/he has a working knowledge of child development and trauma informed care practices sufficient to understand the presenting issues of the students admitting into care and is able to develop the department in alignment with trauma informed care practices. The Director of Admissions will be proficient the development, maintenance, and revision of departmental policies affecting the admissions and utilization review processes.  S/he will demonstrate general computer proficiency and will be able to produce well written and comprehensive reports, proposals, policies and procedures, etc. The Director of Admissions must possess excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, excellent communication skills and the ability to manage information and work with people in a confident manner. S/he must hold a valid driver's license, have use of an adequately insured vehicle, and provide a driving history that will not preclude the agency’s insurer from providing supplemental coverage.

Education and Experience: The Director of Admissions will have a Master’s degree IN Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, Registered Nursing or a closely related field. Candidates will have substantial experience in residential/inpatient treatment for children and/or adolescents, and must demonstrate at least five years progressively responsible experience in a service profession, and have had at least two years experience supervising other staff. 


Physical Demands:

Physicaldemands upon the Director of Admissions will include the ability to generate reports and successfully operate word processing and computer equipment, the ability to utilize their personal vehicle to attend meetings in person or via teleconference, and represent AK Child & Family in the community.  They must also have the ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, within the agency and throughout the community.
