CARES Wraparound Case Manager

Summary of Responsibilities:

The CARES Wraparound Case Manager (WCM) is responsible for the provision of responsible for care coordination to children and youth and their families by facilitating Family Team Conferencing and the Wraparound process

 Duties include crisis intervention, advocacy, assessment, discharge planning, interdisciplinary teamwork and community liaison.

  • Under the supervision of the CARES Wraparound Coordinator Supervisor, CARES Wraparound Case Manager is responsible for implementing Wraparound process, facilitate Family Team Conferencing and for timely and satisfactory documentation.
  • The CARES Wraparound Case Manager adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the agency, the Joint Commission, OCS licensing, DBH and Medicaid.
  • The Wraparound Case Manager is expected to abide by all safety rules and regulations of the agency.
  • The responsibilities of the Wraparound Case Manager are carried out according to AK Child & Family policies, the AK Child & Family mission, and the AK Child & Family philosophy of care.
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned.

  • $17.25/hour to $20.00/hour DOE
  • 3% pay increase after successful completion of 6-month Intro Period.
  • Annual raises are based on the annual budget and not guaranteed each year.

Supervision and Coordination of Services:
  • The CARES Wraparound Coordinator Supervisor supervises CARES Wraparound Case Managers. 
  • The CARES Wraparound Case Manager coordinates services with Family/Parent& Youth Partners, Activity Therapists, Treatment Parents, community partners and other members of the Treatment Team as appropriate.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The CARES Wraparound Case Manager must have the ability to relate to and experience in working with emotionally challenged children/adolescents and their families.  
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assessments, treatment planning, parent training, advocacy skills and case management skills are also required.  
  • The ability to provide written and oral communication in English, along with demonstrated interpersonal/social skills is essential.  
  • Creativity/flexibility must be demonstrated in the delivery of services.  
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and computer skills (MS Office Suite) are also necessary qualifications.  
  • The WCM must demonstrate the ability to function as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team, and display an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally diverse and/or special needs population.  
  • The WCM must possess a valid driver’s license and ability to travel within the community.

 Education and experience:

  • The CARES Wraparound Case Manager must hold a Bachelors Degree in psychology, counseling, or social work, or a closely related field as identified by inclusion of significant coursework in psychology, child development and related studies.
  • One year experience working with emotionally challenged children/adolescents, preferably including case management skills is preferred; or
  • Five year’s experience working with emotionally challenged children/adolescents. 
  • Knowledge in psycho educational skill building, cognitive and reality based therapies, sexual abuse and neglect, and family skill building is preferred.

Physical Demands:
  • The Cares Wraparound Case Manager must be able to access AK Child & Family and community buildings for meetings and agency activities.
  • Transport self and others within the Anchorage Borough to meet with schools, families and other involved parties.
  • Must produce in a timely manner, assessments and other documentation required by AK Child & Family, insurance and referral sources.
  • The Cares Wraparound Case Manager must be able to use a copy machine, fax machine, be able to produce legible student records and prepare reports using a computer.
