Summary of Responsibilities:

The Network and Computer Systems Administrator is an IT professional who performs a variety of technical duties related to the configuration, operations, maintenance and, troubleshooting and support of the network, servers, desktop, and storage infrastructure for AK Child & Family. 

As the incumbent progressively develops their skills and effectiveness in the organization, there is the potential for this role to become the lead position in the AK Child & Family IT organization.

Supervision and Coordination of Services:

The Network and Computer Systems Administrator reports directly to the Lead Network and Computer Systems Administrator.


Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

In addition to the knowledge, skill and ability requirements of the IT Support Specialist, the Network and Computer Systems Administrator is required to possess very strong IT technical skills, written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently, as well as part of the IT team and other teams within the agency. This position requires someone who has strong attention to detail and must have good organization skills, good time management skills and be a critical thinker. The Network and Computer Systems Administrator must be able to evaluate network and computer problems and perform troubleshooting functions on AK Child & Family campuses. The Network and Computer Systems Administrator must be able to efficiently operate and support all AK Child & Family computer systems.  A high degree of professionalism in regard to safeguarding sensitive and/or confidential data is also a requirement. Additionally, this position will participate in the planning, design, and implementation of new and replacement technologies.

Education and experience:

Four years progressively responsible IT support experience, with a minimum of 2 years comprehensive network and computer systems administration experience. Experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory and Cisco Networking environments is desired.  Certifications or additional work experience demonstrating a competent knowledge are necessary.

Experience in customer service and/or working with people in a supportive role.


Physical Demands:

The Network and Computer Systems Administrator must have a valid Alaska drivers license and be able to drive to AK Child & Family sites and other destinations as required.  The Network and Computer Systems Administrator must be able to lift computer equipment weighing up to 35 pounds and to conduct business via a telephone.
